The Society aims to "encourage and recognize excellence in premedical
scholarship; to stimulate an appreciation of the importance of premedical
education; to promote communication between medical and premedical students and
educators; to provide a forum for students with common interests; and to use its
resources to benefit health organizations, charities and the community." (From National

In the Iota chapter we strive to accomplish the national goals while at the
same time focusing on maintaining a small, closely knit organization of
exceptional students. To this end, our minimum GPA entry requirement (3.4) is
higher than the national requirement (3.0).
