Membership

Eligibility

To be eligible to join AED, you must
have:

  1. completed at least one full semester at Texas
    A&M
  2. earned a total of 30 semester credit hours
    (including Credit by Exam, CLEP, AP, etc. )
  3. a 3.4 cumulative Grade Point Ratio (3.25
    Science GPA)

Requirements

To become a member of AED you must fulfill the
following requirements and procedures:

  1. Turn in Completed
    Applications.
    • Chapter ( local ) applications are available
      at all meetings
  2. Provide Grade Verification.
    Grade verification may be provided in one of three ways:
    1. Copy of degree audit from
      myrecord.tamu.edu(Request degree audit) (This is the preferred–it’s free and
      easy)
    2. Official transcript from the campus
      registrar
    3. Copy of each semester’s grades from the
      campus registrar
  3. Pay all dues in full
    ($110.00).
    The fees must be paid by the meeting on April
    5.
    1. National $75.00
    2. Chapter $22.00
    3. ECHO   $1.00
    4. T-shirt   $12.00
  4. Attend 4 of the 6 general meetings, 2
    social events, and attend the Induction Banquet.
  5. Earn 20 Participation
    Points.
    The point system encourages involvement and unity. To receive
    credit for activities (other than the general meetings) you must complete and
    turn in an attendance form, which you can get from the secretary.
    1. Attendance
      1. 2 points per AED meeting
      2. 1 point per ECHO meeting or event (you must
        complete and turn in form for credit)
    2. Service Projects and
      Fund-raisers
      1. 2 points per hour of AED or ECHO events (you
        must complete and turn in form for credit)
      2. 1 point per hour of service outside of AED
        (you must complete and turn in form for credit)
    3. Submission
      1. 2 points for submitting application and fees by deadline of April 5 

 

Exemplary Member Requirements

Requirements

To be recognized as an Exemplary Member, you
must meet the following:

  1. Be an inducted member of AED
  2. Attend 3 of 6 member meetings of the
    semester
  3. Participate in a minimum of 2 AED outside
    events

Benefits

As an Exemplary Member, you will be able
to:

  1. Contend for an officer position at
    the conclusion of the academic year
  2. Be invited to attend our semiannual induction
    banquet
  3. Be eligible to wear AED honors cords at your
    graduation
  4. Be registered for possible
    discounts
  5. Claim an honorary status in AED
